KU softball loses all three games in weekend series at Baylor

By Staff Report     May 3, 2021

The Kansas softball team lost three times in as many games during a weekend series with Baylor in Waco, Texas.

Kansas suffered a 7-1 loss to Baylor in the series opener on Friday. The Bears had back-to-back three-run innings. Sophomore Ashlyn Anderson delivered a solo shot in the seventh for KU’s lone run of the night.

The first battle on Sunday was the most-competitive game, with Kansas dropping a 6-5 decision to Baylor. It was a game that originally started on Saturday before a pause in action due to weather. KU never led in that contest, scoring three runs in the seventh before the rally came up just short. Morgyn Wynne clubbed two homers in the loss.

In the nightcap of the doubleheader, Kansas was handed a 6-1 defeat by Baylor. Lyric Moore blasted her first-career home run to even the score. The Bears scored three runs in the fourth to eventually pull away.

After getting swept this past weekend, Kansas falls to 22-23 on the year and 2-13 in Big 12 play. Baylor improves to 27-15 overall, including 8-6 in conference action.

Kansas will host Iowa State at 6 p.m. Friday.
