KU softball suffers series loss to Oklahoma State after earning upset in opener

After an upset victory in the series opener, the Kansas softball team proceeded to drop the next two games in a series loss at home to No. 10 Oklahoma State this past weekend at Arrocha Ballpark.

The Jayhawks started the weekend off with a 7-4 win over the Cowgirls on Friday, earning their first such victory since 2015. Thanks to some costly errors by OSU, Kansas scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth in the eventual victory.

Four KU players recorded at least one hit in the win, including two coming from Sydnee Ramsey, Morgyn Wynne and Tarin Travieso. Wynne and Madison Hirsch also both delivered a pair of RBI in the opener.

While the win was significant, the Jayhawks weren’t able to maintain that momentum the rest of the weekend. KU scored both of its runs in the seventh during a 4-2 defeat to OSU on Saturday, as Wynne came through with a two-run home run to right center for her 13th blast of the season.

Kansas was then overwhelmed in a 12-0 loss during Sunday’s finale, giving up a run in each of the first four frames.

KU will travel to Oklahoma next weekend, with the series opener slated for 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
