The University of Kansas men’s golf team withdrew from the Desert Intercollegiate golf tournament on Saturday after a positive COVID-19 test surfaced within the program.

A news release announcing the team’s withdrawal said no KU golfers would compete in Saturday or Sunday’s rounds.

Instead, the Jayhawks were slated to return to Lawrence as outlined by the health and safety protocols set by Kansas Team Health.

The Jayhawks were in first place at the tournament after Day 1 on Friday, when they shot a team score of 14 under par to lead the field.

Kansas is scheduled to return to competition on March 8 at the Lamkin San Diego Classic.
