The Kansas softball team picked up a pair of wins at home in Arrocha Ballpark on Friday.
To begin the Rock Chalk Challenge, the Jayhawks secured a 9-4 win over Wichita State and earned a 12-2 win in five innings against Drake. Kansas is now 10-11, winning eight of its last 10 games.
Against Wichita State, KU scored two runs in the first and one in the second before putting the game away with five runs in the sixth. Junior outfielder Brittany Jackson and senior Sam Dellinger both finished with a homer, going a combined 4-for-7 at the plate. Jackson drove in three runs to lead KU’s offensive attack.
The Jayhawks got in a 1-0 hole against Drake before reclaiming the lead with two runs in the second. KU then broke things open with four runs in the third and six in the fourth. Senior infielder Becki Monaghan recorded five RBIs on a 2-of-3 effort at the plate.
Kansas will face both Kansas City and Drake on Saturday.
