The Kansas softball team split a doubleheader on Saturday in the Reveille Classic in College State, Texas.
KU started things off with a 3-2 win over Southeastern Louisiana, scoring the game-winning run in the eighth inning. Morgyn Wynne drove in Brittany Jackson on a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth. Wynne drove in two runs, while Sydnee Ramsey recorded two of KU’s four hits.
In the circle, Hailey Reed spun eight innings of two-run ball and allowed four hits. She struck out 10 batters and walked just one, improving her record to 4-3.
The Jayhawks then dropped a 7-6 decision to Texas A&M. Kansas scored all six of its runs over the last two innings. Shelby Gayre finished with three hits and three RBIs to lead the way offensively. Sam Dellinger also notched two hits.
Tatum Goff was handed the loss after she allowed seven runs off nine hits over 5 2/3 innings.
Kansas (8-10) will square off with Texas A&M in the final game of the event at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
