Sophomore guard Charlie Moore to transfer from KU

Kansas guard Charlie Moore (2) looks to dish as he is defended by South Dakota guard Stanley Umude (0) during the second half, Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018 at Allen Fieldhouse.

Reserve guard Charlie Moore is leaving Kansas, KU coach Bill Self confirmed to the Journal-World on Saturday.

Moore, a 5-foot-11 sophomore from Chicago, has entered the transfer portal and will find a new home this offseason.

"Charlie notified me yesterday that he wanted to transfer and be closer to family," Self told the Journal-World. "We appreciate Charlie's time here at KU and wish him the absolute best moving forward."

Moore, whose father has been battling health problems for some time, took to Instagram on Saturday evening to confirm the news himself and deliver an official goodbye.

"First of all, I want to thank the entire Rock Chalk Jayhawk Nation," Moore's post began. "These past two years I've learned so much and couldn't ask for a better college environment to be a part of. Through this process, I've been dealing with my father being (ill), which has now taken a toll on my mom, causing her to be in and out of the hospital the last couple of months. I feel it's best for me to be home with my family to help them out daily."

Moore emphasized that his decision to leave KU was not "a basketball decision" and added that it was "a tough personal decision that had to be made," before signing off with a simple farewell of "Again, thanks for everything."

The transfer portal is a relatively new system, put in place by the NCAA in October of 2018, that tracks and sorts athletes who elect to continue their college playing careers elsewhere.

Instead of requesting permission to transfer or schools having the power to block undergraduate athletes from doing so, athletes on the move now simply enter their name and information into a form on a website — the transfer portal — and are out there for everyone to see.

After averaging double digits in 34 starts as a true freshman at Cal, Moore, a Chicago native, transferred to KU before the 2017-18 season and sat out during KU’s Final Four run in accordance with NCAA transfer rules.

Expected to contribute meaningful minutes and perhaps push for a starting spot once eligible, Moore appeared in 35 of 36 games for KU this season — with one start — but averaged just 2.9 points per game on 28.6 percent shooting in 13.1 minutes a night.

In somewhat related news, Self on Saturday morning told the Journal-World that next week would be a big week for the future of KU’s roster, which features a fair amount of uncertainty heading into the offseason.

Out on the recruiting trail most of last week and headed to San Antonio to visit his son, Tyler, this weekend, Self said he would start having season-end, what’s-next types of conversations with his players next week, classifying it as “a serious week as far as, not necessarily making decisions, but serious talks.”

“I do believe we’re in a situation where some guys are going to test, without question,” Self said. “And that wouldn’t surprise me nor would that disappoint me at all. I think that’s something that should be looked into and certain guys should consider. And we may have a guy or two look at transferring, too.”

Moore is obviously one of those guys, but it's possible that others could be on the move, one way or the other, as well.

With Kansas currently even in terms of scholarship numbers — KU had one open, gets one back with Lagerald Vick graduating and already has signed guards Christian Braun and Issac McBride in the 2019 class — Moore’s departure would free up a guaranteed spot for Self and company to add another player in the class of 2019.

In reality, after at least a couple other expected early departures, the Jayhawks figure to have even more room to add new faces.

“We can basically sign the number that leaves,” Self said. “That can be as many as four or five or it could be as few as two or three.”

Clarence Haynes 3 years, 6 months ago

Good person but he didn’t seem to fit in with KU’s offensive scheme. Wish him well.

Brian Skelly 3 years, 6 months ago

He'll never be better than Dotson. The writing was on the wall. Best of luck to him. He should probably transfer to a lower conference D-I school.

Dirk Medema 3 years, 6 months ago

Charlie didn't need to be better than Devon, but he did need to play better than what he showed. He is better, but for whatever reason never showed it. Coach was really trying to find reasons to play him more, but he was probably the only player on the team that things didn't click at some point. My guess is he's the next Andrew White, and finds another school where he can contribute.

Marius Rowlanski 3 years, 6 months ago

Leaving Kansas is probably the best course of action for Charlie. I don't see either of the two guards we've signed already having much impact so I'm concerned about our depth in both shooters and defenses stoppers.

PAUSE: I don't have any feel for these new guys. I don't know what Coach Self saw in them but he's showed his ability to recruit and draft in the past... I readily admit that other the Rivals and 247, I hear the words "climbing quickly up the charts", forging new skills, and leadership. So maybe 127 isn't so bad.

As there is, I don't see much help coming other than what the players themselves do now. They have the nucleus of an extremely tough team as long as they can keep from killing each other. Could you imagine these teams playing together three more years?

Matt Stone 3 years, 6 months ago

He was going to struggle getting playing time with Isaac McBride coming in. Wish him the best playing with DePaul or Illinois at his next stop. Thx for your service Charlie. #RCJH

Robert Brock 3 years, 6 months ago

The staff did a really poor job of training and utilizing Charlie Moore. Things should have been better. Good luck, Kid.

Scott Custer 3 years, 6 months ago

How in the world do you know that the staff's training of him was the issue?

Matthew Coleman 3 years, 6 months ago

People love to criticize figures like HOF HCBS, because for that moment they create for themselves the delusion that they know something he doesn't. Everyone else can see the stupidity of doing this, but the arrogant self deceived cannot.

Suzi Marshall 3 years, 6 months ago

Self insinuated there could be other transfers. Who could that be? I can see KJ leaving if D. goes pro and Silvio becomes eligible and stays. Q could go pro but I cannot see him as a transfer, which would require sitting out a year.

Sam Meyer 3 years, 6 months ago

I'm not an expert on the roster by any stretch, but below are the 13 scholarship and what I think happens this off-season with all of them:

Dedric - tests NBA and gets picked in 2nd round (1) Dotson - comes back Grimes - comes back Vick - scholarship available (2) Azubuike - tests NBA, comes back Agbaji - comes back Garrett - comes back McCormack - comes back KJ - transfer / goes and does something different (3) Lightfoot - comes back De Sousa - Eligible for next season in its entirety Moore - transfer (4) Teahan/Luinstra - comes back

If there's another transfer it would likely be KJ. KJ also seems like a potential candidate for deciding that its time to move on and do something different with life (if he does I would understand and wish him the best, hope he comes back, though). Seems like Garrett could be an outside chance of transferring with Ochai probably grabbing the lions share of minutes next season (hope he comes back, too). Christian and Isaac are coming in on scholarship which, if my predictions are correct, would leave 2 scholarships remaining for next season

Suzi Marshall 3 years, 6 months ago

I absolutely do no see Garrett transferring under any circumstances. Self loves that kid. Self has said if Garrett could shoot the ball, he'd already be in the league. KJ would be a grad transfer who might want to look at Oregon to play with his brother. However, I really like those Lawson kids and their parents and hope he stays.

Brad Watson 3 years, 6 months ago

I think Garrett is one of the problems...not with his effort...but he has a tendency to play without unpredictable never know what he is going to do...a lot like Vick....very difficult to coach and horrible for establishing team chemistry.

Brian Babcock 3 years, 6 months ago

I don't see that Brad. Playing without thinking is something coach calls playing with a free mind. To play the level of defense he's shown means he's actually thinking ahead of the play in my opinion. Difficult to coach? Unpredictable? Like Vick? Where do you get that? I see a kid that is laser focused on defense and is all about the team. He struggles on offense yes but he's only a sophomore and he's shown a lot of quickness and ability to penetrate the lane at times (especially when the rest of the guards on the floor seemed to want to stand around the perimeter).

Jeff Foster 3 years, 6 months ago

I'm guessing DeSousa is done, he won't get next year back and regardless, I think he will test the NBA, if invited to the draft camp. KJ is grad eligible and getting married (I've heard) so I think he's a coin flip. He had a decent year and could add some glue next year. Dok, can't test the waters again, you only get that once. So he's gotta get the info the old fashioned way to see if he'll get drafted, unlikely, or just see when/where he gets invited to 'interview' or play in the GLeauge/Europe. I think a couple of keys for us is landing Hurt and signing a good drad transfer.

Craig Carson 3 years, 6 months ago

I think DeSousa could wait to make his decision until after the result of his appeal..if he is denied then he should leave..but if he is reinstated to play next season, he should stay..Dok is 50/50..if he leaves, he is destined for the G league for a couple of years before he might get a call up..or he could stay at KU and have one more year of development...

Jonathan Allison 3 years, 6 months ago

I could be wrong, but I think one of the newer rules is that a player can test the draft multiple times without losing eligibility.

Brett McCabe 3 years, 6 months ago

Agree with Robert. Why recruit a transfer who you can’t play? Self’s mismanagement of the program and the roster is starting to finally show. Transfers, OAD’s and ineligibles makes me wish we had the roster stability of Hutch Juco.

The program is a mess, probably criminally so, and it’s become an abomination.

If the Mayor ends up in Lincoln, Charlie should head there.

Sam Meyer 3 years, 6 months ago

If you're being sarcastic, it isn't coming through well. If you're not being sarcastic, you're coming off as foolish at best. The season didn't turn out the way we wanted. Exhale as realize we haven't been this "bad" since the 05-06 season. The core of this team is setup to be very strong next season. If 2 of Dok, Silvio, or (get greedy) Lawson are back next season than this team will be on the shortlist of national title favorites

Brian Wilson 3 years, 6 months ago

Agree with Brett and Robert. And yes, BILL SELF is one of the very best coaches in the NCAA, but IMO, it is fair to say that Bill Self has been doing a poor job of recruiting the right combination of players lately.

Jay Scott 3 years, 6 months ago

Brett and Robert a scene from Dumb and Dumber....

Marius Rowlanski 3 years, 6 months ago

If that was sarcasm, then very well done.

Why recruit players who can't play?

Why does it seem to be that more players are transferring out than in? Maybe Cunliffe can answer that - or not. We could have used his shooting this year - or not.

It's such a simple question that that needs to be asked.

Joe Black 3 years, 6 months ago

Cunliffe couldn't guard his own shadow. Wasn't that great offensively. Move on already.

David McNickle 3 years, 6 months ago

Pac 12 transfers don't learn any D early on. That, in itself, will keep you off the floor if you play for Self. Think a lot of people are overreacting. So far the only real miss was on Lester. Remaining kids want to see who leaves KU before they commit.

Jeff Coffman 3 years, 6 months ago

Bill Self has spent exactly 1 week in his 16 years of coaching at KU not ranked in the Top25...

John Kelley 3 years, 6 months ago

As things now stand Kansas is not a team to win any more National Championships in Basketball.

Craig Carson 3 years, 6 months ago

@John..why couldnt KU win another bball championship??? thats a pretty ridiculous assumption

Joe Black 3 years, 6 months ago

Brett, I'm glad you have a crystal ball that can tell you if a guy is going to be successful or not in the future. Charlie Moore was a guard out of Chicago who averaged double figures as a freshman in the Pac-12. Most guards from Chicago are tough kids who can handle a lot (i.e. Sherron Collins). It turns out Charlie Moore did not fit that mold. He couldn't finish on drives to the basket and his three point shooting was horrible. He could shoot lights out in practice but the pressure of games got to him and he was BAD. Self wasn't the only one who would have taken him after he transfered, most other teams in college basketball would have jumped at the chance to get him. Not so much now that they have seen his soft play. Kind of gives you a sense of how tough the Pac-12 is, if this kid could be a star there and so bad in the Big-12.

Craig Carson 3 years, 6 months ago sir are a moron for saying act like Self is recruiting players with known way he could have known Prestons mom would take $$ or DeSousa guardian accepting $2500..or any other roster situations..if anything, Self has PROVEN himself and his ability to manage his roster....

Bryce Landon 3 years, 6 months ago

Farewell, Charlie. I hope you find what you're looking for.

Brett McCabe 3 years, 6 months ago

Sam, if you are attempting to be obtuse, then you have succeeded. This program is rotten. It’s got nothing to do with a really bad season in the worst P5 league in the country.

Craig Carson 3 years, 6 months ago

KU won 26 games in a season where they lost their top big man, couldnt hit 3's consistency and lacked valuable experience..far from a bad season.....and you are getting the BIG12 mixed up with the Pac12 (which actually WAS the worst P5 league)..I dont think your basketball IQ is high enough to be on this site..the program itself int rotten..a few kids took $$ unknowingly to the KU does THEIR greed and willingness to break rules make KU look bad?

Stephen H Hadley 3 years, 6 months ago

Congratulations to Texas Tech. Their recruiting is going to go into hyperdrive, they are going to get every quality player in Texas. They are clearly better than us at the moment.

Dane Pratt 3 years, 6 months ago

I'm thrilled. By my count that is the 9th final four appearance since the B12 was formed. We have 5 of them. Would like to see this conference improve.

Jeff Kallmeyer 3 years, 6 months ago

Wouldn't it be nice to have a low-turnover defensive-minded KU team again? Love this TTU team!

Marius Rowlanski 3 years, 6 months ago

Maybe the elevator was stuck down in the basement. Grimes was by far the most highly touted recruit in last year's class and never came close to putting it all together. He shows all the skills so maybe he just needs a little more time. Maybe.

Matt Stone 3 years, 6 months ago

KJ could transfer back to Memphis to be a hometown hero, but hope he stays! Very interested in what transfers are considering us.

Craig Carson 3 years, 6 months ago

I think the fact that KJ met his wife while at KU could keep him hear for his final year....Memphis might be a fun concept, but with Penny's incoming class, he might not even play..with the sad class KU has coming in, he'll probably see lots of minutes

Layne Pierce 3 years, 6 months ago

Fact is Charlie did not buy in. He could have beaten Dotson in one area, and that is running the team and the offense and setting up dimes, but his offense never came on to make anyone play him honest.

McBride would eat his lunch next year. And will play a lot as a freshman. He has some of the toughness that we need so badly.

Grimes reminds me of Svi, all the ability in the world, but afraid to be great, as a youngster. Next year if he improves 20% he will average 10-15 pts a game and make 33% of his threes. He also is actually a better passer in many ways than Dotson, especially feeding the post.

Still, the criticism of our recruiting is somewhat justified, we are not getting the players we need, and we are not getting the toughness or shooting that we need. Charlie could not play defense and could not play offense, so he simply used up minutes. At KU that's shameful. RCJH

Jeff Kallmeyer 3 years, 6 months ago

Agree with the toughness aspect, we're way too soft. Love to get a graduate transfer like Mooney with TTU!

Joe Black 3 years, 6 months ago

"Fact is Charlie did not buy in. He could have beaten Dotson in one area, and that is running the team and the offense and setting up dimes" What the he double toothpicks are you talking about? Did you see this guy play? He was tripping over his own feet half the time. He couldn't hold a candle to Dotson when it comes to running a team. The only thing he had going for him was his ability to shoot 3s and when that wasn't working, he had no spot to play on the court. The kid was not ever a point guard.

Adam Bengtson 3 years, 6 months ago

Transferring twice is like divorce. It sounds great and you think it will solve a problem, yet it creates more. Fed up with transferring. Kids these days are selfish and can’t cut it.

Brian Wilson 3 years, 6 months ago

Evaluation: Here are the guards KU already has:

Dotson, Garrett, Agbaji, Grimes, (McBride and Braun are incoming)

Here are two more guards not yet signed: Cassius Stanley, Harlond Beverly. Signing them would give KU 8 guards.
If Stanley and/or Beverly signs who are odd men out?

Not Dotson or Agbaji. Braun and McBridge would certainly still be coming. So, do you redshirt McBride, Stanley, Braun, or Beverly? Or does this mean Garrett or Grimes could be left out?

Also.... how does this leave us with Bigs? Signing one more guard above would only leave us with 5 spots. Currently we have 6 bigs: Dok, Mac, Lightfoot, Dedric, K.J. and Silvio

Brian Wilson 3 years, 6 months ago

GRIMES, GARRETT, DOK, DEDRIC, KJ AND SILVIO are the only players left from the list that could move on.

If Dedric moves on, then KJ could possibly go to Oregon to play. But I don't think so. Currently KU has ZERO big men that we are recruiting for next year. ZERO!! So if Dedric leaves, KJ starts. Especially since DeSousa will be at the very least missing a good portion of next year's games even if he does come back. My guess is DeSousa says to heck with this and goes to the Euro league and we end up with a list of Bigs that is Dok, Mac, KJ, and Lightfoot, and then KU will have to scramble to find a transfer. KU could really us a 6'11 Tariq Black hatchet man.

Mallory Briggans 3 years, 6 months ago

our concern should be in the paint bigs that can play and stay healthy .Dok a question mark for next year so is Desouza so is Lawson. D mac is a work in progress but Self didnt trust him .We need guards that can shoot .....................and defend we had neither.

Craig Carson 3 years, 6 months ago

yep..with Self missing out on so many big time recruits this off season, im not optimistic on KU landing Hurt or Prescious...we might only have 2 big next season...we might HAVE to be a great 3 point shooting team

Edward Daub 3 years, 6 months ago

The Rise and Fall of Charlie Moore will remain a mystery to me. Solid freshman season at CAL. But, struggled this entire season at KU.

I wish you the best Charlie! Charlie will probably have to sit out again for a year, unless by some miracle he graduates (grad transfer loophole) in just 3 years of school.

And Congratulations to Texas Tech! First Final 4 in Red Raider History!

Chris DeWeese 3 years, 6 months ago

I don't know if the lack of talent in the PAC12 allowed Charlie to shine during his freshman year, but he sure didn't show much this year. Too many zero basket games. The kid couldn't buy a bucket. One good game against S. Dakota (6-9 shooting, 18 points) just can't cut it. He had a stretch of 6 straight games without a basket! I hate to pile on the kid, but it's surprising how poorly he played. Transferring is the best option for him.

Stuart Corder 3 years, 6 months ago

Another KU season over - another player transferring from KU. This happens nearly every season under HCBS.

Charlie Moore is a good player that was used half as much at KU as he was at Cal. He was under utilized under HCBS and not given opportunities.

Charlie Moore will end up being like Andrew White III - leave HCBS and blossom into a team’s leading scorer.

Jeff Kallmeyer 3 years, 6 months ago

Are we talking about the same Charlie Moore? I'll take a pound of whatever you're on!

Matthew Coleman 3 years, 6 months ago

Its one thing to blossom at KU and another to blossom at a perrennial non NCAA Tournament school like Nebraska. HOF HCBS has spent one week out of the top 25 over his tenure here because he has made the decisions that have led to success.

People love to criticize figures like HOF HCBS, because for that moment they create for themselves the delusion that they know something he doesn't. Everyone else can see the stupidity of doing this, but the arrogant self deceived cannot.

Brian Wilson 3 years, 6 months ago

I don't believe Charlie Moore is an Andrew White. That being said, I agree Andrew White was not given his due.
KU sold it's soul to Wayne Selden and in a lot of ways the situation is similar to Grimes. KJ, and Garrett were overlooked by Bill Self so he could stick with his pet 5 Star.

David Friend 3 years, 6 months ago

Selden ended up being a solid player. He did average 20 a game his last year

Tony Bandle 3 years, 6 months ago

Random Thoughts:

1] Can't we all take the high road just once and wish Charlie well, understand his short comings but restrain from pounding them into the ground and move on with a positive vibe?

2] With Charlie leaving and Vick gone, counting the two guards that are committed, this roster could A} be complete with everbody returning plus Matt Hurt for 13 schollies to B] Dok, Silvio, Dedric, K.J., Q, either leaving for "The Show", transferring or going to Europe and, suddenly, Bill has 5 spots to fill very late in the recruiting season. Make it 6 if Hurt picks Duke.

3] Next season, we could be "Awesome" or we could be "Awful" by KU standards.

4] I choose Awesome...but I fear Awful!! PS Awful for most other schools is a banner year...KU always aims higher.

Craig Carson 3 years, 6 months ago

KU's guards are pretty set..I look for much better shooting next season..but unless KU lands Hurt and or Precious , their front court will be ultra thin and rebounding very suspect...might need McCormick to channel his inner Wayne Simien in that case

Chad Smith 3 years, 6 months ago

DePaul UIC Northwestern (if academically eligible)

Could all use charlie moore and benefit. All three of those teams need some help. Good luck Charlie.

Bee Bee 3 years, 6 months ago

Amazing what Texas Tech has done with few STAR/NBA players. Amazing what good coaching and playing DEFENSE can do.

Craig Carson 3 years, 6 months ago

Self did just as good of a job at KU this season and Beard did with TTU...KU losing Azizbike would be like TTU losing Culver...

Brad Watson 3 years, 6 months ago

Good Luck Charlie!!!!...I hope you land somewhere that you like and are able to get more playing time...appreciate your contribution here.

Bj Cassady 3 years, 6 months ago

I think next year we could be behind Tech, O-State, OU, unless we get tougher, get better shooters, get better inside players, get better defensively. I don't want this star to fade but it could. We need better, bigger players so we will not get run out of the gym.

Craig Carson 3 years, 6 months ago

TTU is surely to lose Culver to the NBA draft and Mooney is a senior..they arent likely to be as good next season..OU could improve but ISU could be the top team since they have the most coming back

Bill Lamson 3 years, 6 months ago

PUMP THE BRAKES!!! Holy armchair quarterbacks Batman! I didn't realize we had so many professional NBA scouts reading these articles. Someone needs to immediately notify HCBS about all of this untapped talent and knowledge that is being wasted in the comment section.
Ok, now that I've got that off my chest...a bit of a reality check and for those who have already forgotten, we just had one of the most impressive streaks in all of sports!!! And now people are complaining about the first bad season we've had in......I'll wait for you to tell me when the last time we had a bad season was.... And actually I don't really think this was a 'bad' season all things considered. To say we've been INCREDIBLY spoiled...for DECADES...would be a HUGE understatement, and now every little thing about this season is being picked apart. A little historical perspective...KU ranks #1 in consecutive NCAA appearances (would you believe Carolina has missed it 3 TIMES since 2000), we're #2 in getting a #1 seed, we're #3 in NCAA tourney games played, 4th in wins and have the 7th best win percentage and we're in the top 5 of a lot of other categories. And least we forget, Self has been the coach through a LOT of that success...since '03. So, take a deep breath and be thankful we're not like most schools that have to look for a new coach every 4 or 5 years and never find the right one. EVERY school loses players at the end of the year either through transfer or going pro or whatever...we're no different, at just don't hear about it unless you actually follow other schools closely. Finding quality players who actually live up to their hype is SO much harder than it used to be because 20 years ago they didn't have to be an all-conference player their first or second year in order to be seen as successful. I could list dozens of past KU players who were considered among the best in the country but not until their junior or senior seasons...but unfortunately almost nobody stays that it's incredibly more difficult to find that player who doesn't need any coaching and can come in and start on day one, because you won't have time to really coach them up, and that's not Self's fault.
One last thing...good luck Charlie! Whatever the reason he chose to leave I respect him for coming to one of the best schools in the country and competing and I hope he enjoyed his time in Lawrence. Good luck in Chicago!

Brian Wilson 3 years, 6 months ago

ok....mostly true....but we are trying to win it all every year aren't we? LOL

Armen Kurdian 3 years, 6 months ago

I hope Charlie does well, he just didn't improve at all during the season here, maybe he will somewhere else. Looks like D Lawson is on the mock draft lists now, so he's probably gone, and will play professionally. De Souza...well, I do not see him playing in the NBA next year having sat out here, and going and playing in Europe of the, KU needs to sue the NCAA and get the kid back in uniform, play a full year, then he'll be golden. The rest probably need to stay...there is far too much talent out there for them to test the waters...seems like each year there's more and more folks fully declaring for the draft, leaving more and more on the cutting room floor.

Brad Watson 3 years, 6 months ago

Rumor has it...Chris Beard is going to Westwood and coach the budding rivalry with TT might be over.

Brad Watson 3 years, 6 months ago

3 of the Final Four teams we have played...2 we have beaten...we beat Mich St.

easily .....and blew out TT in Dr. Allens house...and we did not play folks....we were a good team this year....just had a case of the hiccups.

Mallory Briggans 3 years, 6 months ago

Hey Coach Cal .......Coach K .......You will be watching just like Coach Self ......yes!!!!!

Tony Bandle 3 years, 6 months ago

Nothing like Duke and North Carolina losing to miss out on the Final Four to brighten up a Jayhawk's Sunday.

All we need now is for "Lyin' " Williamson to go pro and the Nike scandal to break open, catch Duke and have them forfeit the season with Rat Face humiliated and forced to retire in disgrace!!!!

WOW Duke eliminated from the Final Four at the very end, two years in a row...yes, there is a GOD!!! :}

Dane Pratt 3 years, 6 months ago

I'll be rooting for Tech but I'd be okay with Michigan State cutting down the nets. They might have to beat Virginia to do it and the ACC has been Tom Izzo's kryptonite.

Brian Wilson 3 years, 6 months ago

I'm for Tech at this point, Auburn second. If they win it makes us look good. I'm against Michigan State since they beat KU at Kemper years ago. KU always has a hard time with them. And of course I also cheer for teams outside of the ACC.

Dane Pratt 3 years, 6 months ago

Duke, North Carolina AND Kentucky. Bad weekend for the blue bloods. Duke must have used the last of their 9 lives against Virginia Tech.

Mike Greer 3 years, 6 months ago

All this wining about the shambles the program is in, yet we beat 2 of the 3 teams we played that are in the Final Four. And one of those wins was without Dok. We lost a critical game in the tournament to a team that has been perhaps the hottest team in the tournament. Given what we thought we had this time last year, and what we had come March (no Dok, Silvio, or Legerald, and guys not living up to expectations, Charlie, Quinton, maybe others), I'd say it was a better year than many would have projected.

Matt Stone 3 years, 6 months ago

Well said Bill Lamson! I will be rooting for TT or VA. I like Bennett and if Bill leaves(he won't), Bennet is near top of my list to replace Bill with.

Tom Jones 3 years, 6 months ago

Good luck, Chuck! Best wishes for your family in what sounds like a trying time.

Freddie Garza 3 years, 6 months ago

Best of luck kid! Hope the rest of your career is fruitful.

David Howell 3 years, 6 months ago

So all of the above analysis aside, with the current roster and a few additions how will this team be great next year ?

Will they be able to do the following better next year ? Free throw shooting, 3 point shooting, 3 point defending and defense overall ................

Texas Tech seemed to do most of them this tournament. I have my doubts about much improvement next year, but I hope I am wrong !

Marius Rowlanski 3 years, 6 months ago

Crap happens and we were completely unprepared. I can't believe that I let my hopes get the best of me again.

I was there at Kansas in the final years of Coach Owens and recruitment had dropped considerably. It took a new head coach to right the ship.

Not saying that it will happen again but at some point, it will happen again.

Tom Jones 3 years, 6 months ago

Yes, KU will have another basketball coach at some point in the future.

No idea what the rest of your post means...
