KU baseball ends losing skid with win over Missouri State

By Staff Report     Mar 27, 2019

The Kansas baseball team got back on track with a 9-5 road win over Missouri State Wednesday night.

KU (14-10) snapped a seven-game skid with the victory in its midweek matchup. The Jayhawks jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the first inning before scoring four more in the fifth. Missouri State scored three of its five runs in the final frame, though Kansas held off the rally.

Jaxx Groshans led the offensive attack with six RBI off a pair of extra-base hits. Groshans belted a homer and recorded a double. He was the only KU player with multiple hits in the win. It was more than enough run support for Steve Washilewski, who allowed one run off five hits over 5 1/3 innings. He struck out eight batters and walked one to earn the victory.

Kansas plays host to Baylor at 6 p.m. Friday for its first home game of 2019.
