The Kansas softball team split Friday’s doubleheader at Arrocha Ballpark.
In the first game, KU suffered a 2-0 loss to SEMO before recording a 6-4 victory over Maine in the second game.
Brynn Minor (2-8) was handed the loss against SEMO after allowing two runs off eight hits over seven innings. Minor also struck out three batters and walked three. The Jayhawks gave up one run in the fifth and one more in the seventh. KU recorded a total four hits as a team.
Maine jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Madison Sykes evened the score with a two-run single in the bottom of the third. Cheyenne Hornbuckle added an RBI base knock in the fourth and a solo homer in the sixth. Sydnee Ramsey added an RBI single as well.
Kansas (5-15) plays host to Maine at 3 p.m. Saturday.
