Kansas Athletics student-athletes set a department record with a combined grade-point average (GPA) of 3.13 during the spring 2019 semester, Kansas Athletics Director Jeff Long announced Monday afternoon.

The 3.13 GPA surpassed the previous department record, 3.11, which was set in the prior semester (fall 2018). The student-athletes’ overall GPA of 3.12 for 2018-19 sets yet another department record. In addition, a department-record 59 student-athletes recorded a perfect 4.0 average.

Swimming and diving led the way for the third-straight semester, recording a 3.69, just missing its all-time department record of 3.70 set in fall 2018. It also marked the third-straight semester that the swimming and diving team achieved a GPA of at least 3.6.

Soccer was second with a team-record 3.55 average. In total, nine teams recorded GPAs above 3.0, including women’s golf (3.46), rowing and women’s track and field (3.37), volleyball (3.31), softball (3.30), men’s golf (3.27) and tennis (3.12).

A total of 272 Kansas student-athletes earned a spot on the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll by achieving a GPA of 3.0 or higher. That represents 62 percent of student-athletes on active rosters, which was another department record.
