The Kansas women’s soccer team unofficially opened the 2019 season with a 0-0 tie against Omaha in an exhibition match on Friday night at Rock Chalk Park.
The Jayhawks outshot the Mavericks 20-1 but could not put one in the back of the net to net the goal needed to break the scoreless tie.
Six of KU’s 20 shots were on target and three others hit the crossbar.
Junior Ceri Holland led the charge with seven shots and was joined by 10 teammates who tallied at least one shot in the draw. The KU attack also created 12 corner kicks.
Twenty-two different Jayhawks took the field in what was KU’s only preseason tune-up of 2019, with 18 of those players logging at least 20 minutes.
Kansas will officially open the 2019 regular season at 7 p.m. Thursday when former conference foe Nebraska comes to Rock Chalk Park for the season opener.
The match will be streamed live via Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
