KU softball falls in series finale to No. 12 Texas Tech

By Staff Report     Apr 20, 2019

In the series finale, the Jayhawks were unable to muster enough run support for a solid-pitching performance by Brynn Minor. Kansas dropped the series-deciding tilt to Texas Tech, 4-1, at Rocky Johnson Field.

Minor pitched six innings and allowed only four runs to a potent Texas Tech attack that scored 14 runs in the first two games. The senior from Wichita, Kan., had three strikeouts, and finished the series with one win and one loss.

The Jayhawks first attempt at plating runs happened in the third inning with Texas Tech only up one run. Sydnee Ramsey laced a single to center field, and a Texas Tech error allowed Ramsey to reach third with two outs. A fly out to the shortstop in the next at bat stopped the scoring threat.

After a scoreless top of the fourth by Kansas, Texas Tech netted two runs in the fifth off a home run and added another run in the sixth on a double.

Kansas plays host to No. 10 Texas next weekend for the final home series of the 2019 season.
