Kansas baseball snaps losing streak against Grand Canyon

By Staff Report     Mar 21, 2018

The Kansas baseball team snapped a four-game losing streak with a 6-5 road victory over Grand Canyon on Wednesday at Brazell Field, boosted by a pair of pinch-hit RBI singles from Jaxx Groshans and David Kyriacou.

The Jayhawks (13-8) committed a season-high six errors, but scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to take their first lead of the game. Zack Leban pitched the final two innings to earn his ninth save of the year.

KU coach Ritch Price said the biggest play of the game was in the fifth inning when Grand Canyon (7-13) loaded the bases with none out. Kansas pitcher Gabriel Sotomayor caught a line drive and doubled off the runner at first base, helping the Jayhawks avoid a bigger deficit before their eventual comeback.

The Jayhawks will travel to Baylor on Friday.
