Frank Mason to host youth camp in Lawrence

Former Kansas standout Frank Mason will return to Lawrence this week.

Mason, who played for the Jayhawks from 2013-17, will host a youth basketball camp at Sports Pavilion Lawrence on Wednesday. The first session, which is for kids between the ages of 7-13, will start at 10 a.m. and finish at 1 p.m. The second season for 14-17 year-old players will start at 2 p.m. and finish at 5 p.m.

Those interested can go to fm3basketball.com/lawrence-sports-pavilion-camp-registration/ to sign up for the camp. Mason will also hold a camp at Olathe Community Center Thursday and another event at Wichita Hoops on Friday. Sherron Collins is listed as a special guest.

Mason has one season under his belt at the professional level, playing in 52 games (two starts) for the Sacramento Kings. Mason averaged 7.9 points per game in 18.9 minutes per contest. He also shot 38 percent from the field, including a 36 percent clip from long range.

In college, Mason played in 145 games (113 starts) for Kansas and averaged 30 minutes per contest. As a senior, Mason averaged 20.9 points and 5.2 assists per game en route to winning Naismith Player of the Year.
