Kansas softball head coach Megan Smith on Tuesday announced the addition of pitching transfers Kirsten Pruett and Hannah Todd. Both Pruett and Todd will enter their sophomore seasons and will compete immediately for the Jayhawks during the 2019 season this spring.
“We are very excited to add Kirsten and Hannah to the Jayhawk softball family this week,” Smith said in a team release. “Both are extremely eager to compete and help lead our team to success this season. They will add depth to our pitching staff and their contrasting pitching styles will complement our staff’s versatility very well. Kirsten is a fierce competitor who has tremendous spin and command of her pitches, while Hannah’s power-pitching style makes her a force in the circle because of her high velocity.”
Pruett spent her last two seasons at Louisiana, where she redshirted during the 2017 season and made one appearance in the circle in 2018. Pruett graduated from Cedar Creek High School as the career record holder for wins, strikeouts and innings pitched in school history.
Todd, meanwhile, transfers from North Carolina, where she made five appearances and two starts during her freshman season in 2018. As a senior at Cartersville High School, Todd posted a 1.25 ERA with 220 strikeouts.
