When: 6 p.m. Sunday
Where: Schollmaier Arena
Series: TCU leads, 6-5
Losing skid: Kansas has lost its last seven games to start the Big 12 season. However, things may be turning around for the Jayhawks. Of those seven losses, six were against nationally ranked opponents, including their most recent 62-51 loss to West Virginia, in which they nearly pulled off the upset. Second-year head coach Brandon Schneider is still seeking his first regular season conference victory, and a one-win TCU team might just be the most favorable opponent to accomplish such feat.
Pressure defense: Opposing coaches often complain about their team’s ability to take care of the ball after playing Kansas. The Jayhawks are averaging 15.4 points per game off turnovers this season, which is a credit to their own defensive play. Kansas is averaging 9.4 steals per outings this season, with sophomores Kylee Kopatich and McKenzie Calvert leading the team with 28 thefts apiece.
Streaking: Junior guard Jessica Washington sits atop the league with 19.6 points per outing during the Big 12 season. She has been the leading scorer in five of the seven games during the league slate. During conference play, Washington has hit 35.8 percent of her shots, including 44.5 percent from downtown.
Slumping: Sophomore wing Kylee Kopatich scored just five points on three shot attempts in the loss to the Mountaineers. The five-point effort snapped a four-game streak of double digit scoring, in which she totaled 46 points. Kopatich needs to get more looks in order for Kansas’ offense to be more efficient.
