Shoal Creek, Ala. — Kansas University women’s golfer Yupaporn Kawinpakorn and Pornvipa Sakdee moved within a stroke of each other on the second day of their NCAA regional on Friday at Shoal Creek Country Club.
Kawinpakorn shot a second-round 78 (6 over) for a 36-hole score of 153 to put herself in a tie for 25th. Sakdee shot 75 Friday for a 36-hole score of 154 to put herself in a tie for 30th.
The low six teams and low three individuals not on those teams from each regional will qualify for the NCAA Championship, May 20-25 in Eugene, Ore.
If the tournament had ended Friday, Kawinpakorn would have missed qualifying by four strokes.
The final round is today.
