Kansas University senior Frank Mason III scored 24 points and freshman Josh Jackson pitched in 21 points to pace the Blue team to a 92-85 victory over the Red squad in Wednesday’s Bill Self campers game in Horejsi Center.
Jackson, a 6-7 guard from Prolific Prep in Napa, Calif., who is ranked No. 1 in the recruiting Class of 2016, hit 10 of 17 shots, including one three. There was a brief scare when fellow freshman Mitch Lightfoot (11 points) hammered Jackson on a dunk try. Jackson went down to the floor where he remained for several seconds. He left the game briefly, only to return and immediately drill a 15-footer.
Former KU forward Kevin Young scored 16 and Landen Lucas contributed 10 for the winning team.
Sophomore guard Lagerald Vick scored 29 points for the Red team off 10-of-13 shooting. Vick hit seven threes. Carlton Bragg scored 14 points for the Red squad.
