— Harwell’s receiving, Reynolds’ defensive speed put them atop ratings
Game Balls
Nick Harwell had five receptions for 79 yards and two touchdowns.
Michael Reynolds continued to play with passion and productivity during a strong senior season. He had six tackles, five solos and forced a fumble, playing hard against one of the nation’s best offensive lines. His four forced fumbles ranks first in the Big 12.
True freshman running back Corey Avery caught four passes for 92 yards.
Gassers
Darious Crawley fumbled a kick return that set up a Baylor field goal that put Kansas 20 points behind in the second quarter.
Safety Cassius Sendish slipped and fell to the turf, opening the way for Corey Coleman to streak down the left sideline with nobody near him for a 72-yard touchdown reception 3:31 into the game.
Right tackle Larry “Big Physique” Mazyck was whistled for yet another false-start penalty on third-and-3 of KU’s first possession, killing the bounce with which the team started the game with a three-and-out from the defense. Mazyck’s day didn’t get any better from there. The most costly of his holding penalties nullified a big running gain by quarterback Michael Cummings.
