Grand Prairie, Texas ? Justin Protacio went 4-for-5 to lead Kansas University’s 18-hit effort in a 14-1, run-rule-shortened baseball victory over Houston Baptist on Sunday at QuikTrip Park.
Kansas improved to 11-1, the best start in school history, after the seven-inning victory on a 31-degree day.
Protacio, the Jayhawks’ leadoff hitter, had three RBIs and scored three runs.
Michael Suiter was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, Michael Tinsley was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Ryan Pidhaichuk was 1-for-1 with a run and two RBIs.
Kansas scored at least a run in every inning and put up five runs in each the fourth and sixth frames.
Drew Morovick (3-0) picked up the win after allowing just one hit over five scoreless innings.
Kansas will host Creighton, weather permitting, at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hoglund Ballpark.
