After leading Kansas University to its highest Big 12 finish in school history, coach Clark Campbell has been named Big 12 Swim Coach of the Year.
Campbell led KU to a second-place finish at the conference championships and crowned the school’s first Big 12 individual champion: Chelsie Miller in the 400-yard individual medley.
“We started the process of bettering the program as a whole this year,” Campbell said. “Our team goal next year is to score over 700 points at the Big 12 Championships, which would be about a 100-point improvement from this season. That will help us close the gap on Texas. Our big goal is to bring more people to the NCAA Championships and a relay, as well. We graduated a lot of regular-scoring seniors, but we have a dynamite group of returners and freshmen that will contribute right away.”
