Kansas City, Mo. ? Alicia Pille came one out away from a perfect game but had to settle for a complete-game, one-hit shutout — her sixth shutout of the season — to spark Kansas University to a 5-0 victory over Missouri-Kansas City on Tuesday at Missouri 3&2 Complex.
Pille, a junior from Royce City, Texas, was perfect through 62/3 innings before UMKC’s Bri Wyatt singled. Pille faced just 22 batters — one over the minimum — while recording eight strikeouts and no walks.
The Jayhawks (29-13) banged out 10 hits against UMKC (12-28).
Kansas will host Texas Tech for a three-game set beginning at 5 p.m. April 17 at Arrocha Ballpark.
