KU women’s golf in second place

? Kansas University sophomore Yupaporn Kawinpakorn sits in sole possession of second place and the Jayhawks are in second in the team race after Monday’s first day of the Cardinal Cup.

Kawinpakorn shot 78-68 (4 under) through the first two rounds.

Other KU results: Minami Levonowich, tied for 16th, 148; Pornvipa Sakdee and Michelle Woods, tied for 20th, 149; and Thanuttra Boonraksasat, tied for 25th, 150. Competing as an individual, KU’s Mackenzie Thayer was tied for 52nd at 159.

Louisville sophomore Laura Restrepo leads the field at 137. Louisville leads the team race at 567 strokes. Kansas shot 581.

The tournament will conclude with 18 holes today.
