Ames, Iowa ? Kansas University’s softball team rallied from two runs down with two outs in the seventh to score eight straight runs and defeat Iowa State, 12-6 in eight innings, on Saturday.
The Jayhawks (33-16 overall, 8-8 Big 12) were saved by senior Mariah Montgomery, who hit a two-run single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh. Six more runs followed in the extra inning, including a home run by freshman Alex Hugo.
Joining Hugo with homers in the game were fellow Jayhawks Chanin Naudin and Maggie Hull.
By game’s end, Hull (140) had crept ahead of Montgomery (138) on KU’s career RBI list. Only one game remains — the series finale against ISU, at noon today.
