Frogs flog Kansas baseball, 8-1

By Staff Reports     Mar 16, 2013

? TCU right-hander Preston Morrison held Kansas University to just a run off four hits over 72/3 inning, and third baseman Jantzen Witte went 3-for-3 with three doubles and three runs scores as the Horned Frogs roughed up KU, 8-1, in the Big 12 baseball opener for both teams Friday.

The outcome snapped a five-game winning streak for KU (11-6, 0-1). TCU improved to 8-9 and 1-0.

The Frogs jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first and 7-1 after four, and that was more than enough offense for Morrison, who walked one and struck out five.

Frank Duncan (1-2) took the loss after allowing five earned runs off nine hits with three walks and no strikeouts in 32/3 innings, his shortest career start.

Michael Suiter was 2-for-3 for the Jayhawks, extending his hitting streak to 12 games and increasing his batting average to a Big 12-best .473.

The series will resume at 6:30 p.m. today. The game will be televised live on Fox College Sports Atlantic, which is available in Lawrence on Knology Cable channel 144.
