Big 12 volleyball honors KU trio

Three Kansas University volleyball players earned spots on the Big 12 Preseason Team, the conference announced Tuesday.

Senior middle blocker Caroline Jarmoc, an All-Big 12 First Team member and second-team All-American last season, was honored for the second consecutive year. Senior setter Erin McNorton and junior outside hitter Sara McClinton, also an All-Big 12 first-teamer, earned their first selections.

“We’re a veteran team and some of these kids had success last year,” 16th-year KU coach Ray Bechard said. “There are people in the Big 12 who feel like they are capable of repeating those performances. But it’s a situation where everything starts over and each and every one of our team members — including these three — will have to go out and play at a high level to, most importantly, create opportunity for our team to succeed.”

The Jayhawks kick off their season with the annual Crimson and Blue Match at 1 p.m. on Aug. 24 at Horejsi Center and open against Central Arkansas on Aug. 30 in Tucson, Ariz.
