Two Kansas University volleyball players were named Big 12 players of the week, and the Jayhawks ascended to unprecedented heights in the national rankings and NCAA RPI projections.
KU’s Sara McClinton was named the league’s offensive player of the week, and Caroline Jarmoc was defensive player of the week after KU (19-3 overall, 7-1 Big 12) extended its school record of home wins in a season to 12 straight with victories over Kansas State and Texas Christian.
Kansas moved up to No. 17 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Div. I coaches poll and is No. 8 in the NCAA RPI projection — the highest in school history in both categories.

Bechard might just be pulling yet another contract extension out of this season. He should have been gone long ago, but this season will probably save him.

Bechard is a class act and KU is fortunate to have him.

Bechard is also a guy who's made 3 NCAA appearances in 15 years, coaching a sport he's never played in his life. The second point isn't a huge deal, but he's been here too long. This year is a pleasant surprise. You've gotta separate him as a person from his results as a coach.

Can someone explain why Kansas State is ranked at #16 and KU is at #17 when we beat them in 4 sets last week?

Jarmoc was also named the national player of the week by the AVCA. Huge honor for her and it's awesome to see all the hard work these girls have put in over the past couple years finally starting to pay off.
