KU track and field opens outdoor season

? The Kansas University women’s track and field team took first and the men’s team placed second on Saturday in KU’s outdoor-season opener at the Baker Relays.

Mason Finley took the top spot in both the shot put and the discus men’s events, including a nation-leading shot put throw of 19.48 meters.

In all, the men’s and women’s teams claimed 13 first-place finishes at the meet.

The teams will travel Wednesday to Austin, Texas, for the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
