Jayhawk soccer duo loses to Team USA in Olympic play

? Kansas University sophomore soccer players Ingrid Vidal and Liana Salazar and the Colombian national team lost, 3-0 to the United States in group play on Saturday at the 2012 Olympic Games.

Vidal, a forward from Palmira, Colombia, started and played 76 minutes, while Salazar, a midfielder from Bogata, Colombia, played the final 20 minutes off the bench.

Colombia (0-2) will play France on Tuesday night.

Other Jayhawks

  • Former KU basketball player Sasha Kaun and Team Russia will face off against Great Britain today. Kaun is a native of Tomsk.

  • KU track star Diamond Dixon is also at the Games as part of the U.S. 1,600 relay team, but her events will not start until Aug. 10.
