Kansas forward Carolyn Davis (21) turns to shoot during Kansas’ game against Texas Tech on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012 at Allen Fieldhouse.

The Kansas University women’s basketball team picked up its second Big 12 victory of the season against a ranked opponent on Wednesday night at Allen Fieldhouse, knocking off No. 21 Texas Tech, 62-43.

Two weeks ago, KU topped No. 23 Texas on the road, and Wednesday’s victory improved the Jayhawks to 16-3 on the year and 5-2 in Big 12 play.

It marked the first time since the 2008-09 season that KU has knocked off two ranked opponents in the same season.

KU was led by junior forward Carolyn Davis, who finished with 34 points and 6 rebounds on 17 of 24 shooting. One of the most impressive parts about Davis’ point total was that she attempted just one free throw.

Davis’ 34 points were the most by a Big 12 player in a single game so far this season.

The Jayhawks’ next action will come Saturday at No. 1 Baylor.
