I will actually give credit for this team playing as well as they have this season. Last year, they finished in last place with 5 seniors logging significant minutes last season and this year with only 3 seniors on the team total they improved by 5 wins with 5 freshmen playing major minutes this year including the goalie and leading goal scorer. 9 out of the 11 players for KU who tallied a point this season are either freshmen or sophomores so this is a very young team. If this team can get improved play from the goalie position next season, this is a team that can score with just about anyone as they finished tied for the most goals scored in conference play with Texas A&M and ranked 27th nationally in goals per game. I know most people want to completely clean house of every coach but Self, but I would hold off on Mark Francis for another couple of years while this group of freshmen and sophomores go through their careers because this is a team that has a lot more upside than just about any other team at KU right now.
