KU women’s basketball to travel to Italy this summer

By J-W Staff Reports     May 18, 2011

The Kansas University women’s basketball team will spend 10 days playing games in and traveling around Italy this summer.

The trip, which will be Aug. 9-19, will give the team an opportunity to play against competitive international teams while providing an incredible cultural experience.

“This trip is valuable not only from a basketball standpoint, but from a team-bonding and educational perspective as well,” said KU coach Bonnie Henrickson. “This is a tremendous opportunity to get the team together and train and get to know each other a lot better before the season starts. With the new rule change, we are now allowed to take our incoming freshmen on the tour, which is beneficial in their transition to playing at the college level.”
