Kansas sophomore forward Carolyn Davis was named to the All-Big 12 first team, the conference announced Monday.
The All-Big 12 awards are selected by the league’s head coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their own players.
“I am really honored to be named first team,” Davis said in a release. “I could not be where I am without the help of my teammates and coaches. They do a great job of feeding me the ball and putting me in situations to be successful. The Big 12 is full of talented players, and I am thrilled to recognized among them.”
Davis leads the Jayhawks, averaging 18.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
“To do it (getting named to the first team) in what is considered to be the best conference in the nation is a tremendous accomplishment,” KU coach Bonnie Henrickson said in a release. “She had a fantastic season and played some of her best games in conference play.”
KU will face Colorado in the opening round of the Big 12 tournament at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
