Las Vegas ? Kansas University’s softball team split a pair of games Friday in the UNLV Classic, falling 10-7 to Bradley, but rebounding to top San Jose State, 3-1.
In the second game against San Jose State, KU sophomore Mariah Montgomery hit her fifth home run of the season in the second inning.
KU improved to 15-2, while San Jose State fell to 8-9.
The Jayhawks had just five hits, and four of them came in the bottom of the second inning.
Freshman pitcher Kristin Martinez pitched a complete game, giving up five hits, one run and two walks. She limited the Spartans to three hits in the final five innings. Martinez struck out a career-high seven batters and improved her record to 7-0.
Kansas will take on UNLV at 3:30 p.m. today and Troy at 8 p.m. today in Vegas.
