Columbia, Mo. — Marcus Denmon scored 20 points, showing no after effects from a blow to the head three days earlier, to help Missouri beat Texas Tech on Tuesday night.

Kim English had 16 points and reserve Michael Dixon 13 points for the Tigers (20-6, 6-5 Big 12), who shot 58 percent but were tested in a run-and-gun contest that was light on defense before going to 16-0 at home. John Roberson had 21 points for Texas Tech (11-15, 3-8), which shot 49 percent.

MU entered averaging a 23.7-point victory margin at Mizzou Arena and led by 13 with about 9 1/2 minutes left, but were hanging on after Roberson’s three-pointer cut the margin to three with 1:14 to play. The Tigers scored the game’s last five points, despite a pair of missed free throws by English.

David Tairu added 17 points for Texas Tech, which lost its fourth in a row — all against ranked opponents. The scoring total was a season best for an opponent at Missouri.

Denmon, a junior guard, topped 1,000 career points late in an 18-point first half. He missed the last 18 minutes of Saturday’s home victory over Oklahoma after taking an accidental elbow just under the right eye from teammate Laurence Bowers, requiring two stitches.

Denmon showed he was fine immediately, scoring seven of Missouri’s first 11 points.

Baylor 64, Wayland Baptist 50

Waco, Texas — LaceDarius Dunn became Baylor’s career scoring leader with 17 points in a victory over Wayland Baptist in a game that meant little else for either team.

Dunn has 2,196 points, surpassing Terry Teagle’s 2,189 points scored for the Bears from 1979-82. Dunn is 61 points from breaking Andre Emmett’s Big 12 record of 2,256.

It was the final nonconference game of the regular season for Baylor (17-8), and won’t factor in the Bears’ RPI rating.
