KU soccer nips No. 14 Northwestern

? Kaitlyn Cunningham booted a shot into the back of the net off a corner kick to lift Kansas University’s soccer team to a 2-1 victory over No. 14 Northwestern on Friday night at Lakeside Field.

Kortney Clifton had the assist on the goal for the Jayhawks, who improved to 2-1. Caroline Kastor struck first for Kansas in the 45th minute.

Cunningham’s goal was her first this season, while Kastor scored the second of her career.

KU Kat Liebetrau collected five saves.

The Jayhawks will travel to Illinois State at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
