Peoria, Ill. ? Kansas University junior Donny Wasinger earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Cross Country National Championships after a 10th-place finish Saturday at the Midwest Regional Championships.
Wasinger will compete at the championships on Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, Ind.
Wasinger, a Winona, Minn., native, finished 10th in a field of 171 runners, posting a career-best 10K time of 30:05.3. Wasinger is the first Kansas male runner to compete in the NCAA Cross Country National Championship since 2006.
KU’s men placed 11th in the Midwest Region with 299 points.
The women’s team took sixth.
