Crews responded Thursday morning to Kansas University’s Memorial Stadium after a fire alarm was activated.

According to emergency scanner traffic, Kansas University Public Safety officers were dispatched to the stadium at 4:12 a.m. to investigate activated smoke alarms in the seventh floor press box. Upon arriving and seeing light smoke inside the structure, officers called for a full response from Lawrence-Douglas County Fire and Medical units.

Fire units arrived at the facility and advised the issue was steam leaking from an electric boiler and no flames were present. The building was declared all clear and under control at about 4:25 a.m. but the stadium’s audible alarm continued to sound for at least 20 additional minutes.
