Former KU track standout Dick Wilson dies at age 78

Kansas University Hall of Famer Dick Wilson died on Saturday after a battle with a brain tumor and terminal cancer. He was 78.

Wilson was a member of the Kansas track and field and cross country teams from 1950-54. He was a part of KU’s 1953 national championship cross country team. Wilson was also a part of the four-mile relay team, which set an American record in that event.

Funeral services have not been finalized, but are expected to take place at a Baptist church in Lawrence on Tuesday.
