Lincoln, Neb. ? In the first day of competition at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational, six members of the Kansas University track and field team set personal records, including junior Nick Caprario, who won the 5,000 meters with a career-best time of 14:52.24.
Caprario led a pack of four Jayhawks in the event, as Josh Baden, Dan Van Orsdel and Diego Ladron finished in third, fifth and tenth place, respectively. Van Orsdel also had a career-best time, clocking in at 14:56.71.
In the sprint events, Kansas had four athletes advance to the finals, while five others qualified for the consolation finals.
