KU soph wins hammer throw

Kansas University sophomore Alena Krechyk won the women’s hammer throw title Friday at the UCSD Triton Invitational in San Diego. Krechyk threw 204-feet, 5-inches.

And in Des Moines, Iowa, Kansas’ Jaci Perryman tied for eighth in the women’s pole vault at the Drake Relays. Perryman cleared 12-11/2.

Senior Eric Fattig earned runner-up honors in the men’s long jump with his a mark of 24-41/4.

The women’s distance medley relay team of Rebeka Stowe, Kathryn Lupton, Cori Christensen and Lauren Bonds finished fifth overall with a time of 11:21.53.
