Kansas University’s volleyball team lost to Baylor in a three-set (25-19, 25-22, 25-17) sweep Saturday afternoon.
The Jayhawks (8-4, 1-2) got 14 kills from sophomore Allison Mayfield and a .294 hitting percentage from junior Jenna Kaiser, but managed just a .104 team hitting percentage.
The No. 24 Bears (14-1, 3-1) won in straight sets with help from senior Taylor Barnes’ 34 assists and senior Anna Breyfogle’s 12 kills.
Visiting KU hung tough deep into the first set, pulling to a 16-16 tie before Baylor went on a 6-1 run.
The Jayhawks led for most of the second set before the Bears put together another 6-1 streak.
Baylor grabbed an early 4-3 advantage in the third set and never relinquished the lead.
KU next takes the court at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, playing host to Colorado.
