Oklahoma City ? Will the third time be the charm for Kansas University’s softball team?
The Jayhawks, who dropped two games to Iowa State last weekend in Ames, Iowa, will meet the Cyclones again today in the Big 12 Tournament.
Game time is 5 p.m. at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.
Kansas (21-30 overall, 6-11 Big 12) is the No. 9 seed. Iowa State (25-28, 7-11) is the No. 8 seed. Today’s winner will meet No. 1 seed Oklahoma at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Senior center fielder Dougie McCaulley leads the Jayhawks with a .312 batting average and 14 stolen bases. Designated player-outfielder Allie Clark paces the club in doubles (9), home runs (10) and RBIs (30).
KU coach Tracy Bunge, who announced her retirement two weeks ago, will use either senior Val George (10-15, 2.72 ERA) or junior Sarah Vertelka (9-12, 3.37) in the circle.
Kansas and Iowa State have met only once in the Big 12 Tournament with KU posting a 2-1 victory in 2007.
