KSU faces another buyout

? Kansas State University could be required to pay another expensive buyout if it does not reinstate Jim Epps, a deputy athletic director on indefinite administrative leave, according to a published report.

Epps and associate athletic director Bob Cavello were placed on leave last week by new athletic director John Currie. He said the decision to suspend the two administrators was not based on misconduct but didn’t elaborate.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reported Wednesday that if Epps is terminated without cause, he would be owed the remaining value of his five-year contract, estimated to be about $900,000. The contract obligates the university to pay Epps $250,000 per year through June 2013.
