Kansas football loses commitment

Kansas University football commitment Jacoby Walker, a quarterback from Houston, Texas, has de-committed from KU and will now attend Utah, according to the Salt Lake (Utah) Tribune.

Walker, a three-star recruit according to Rivals.com, committed to the Jayhawks in June but reportedly began looking elsewhere after former KU coach Mark Mangino resigned following an internal university investigation into his treatment of players.

The player’s decision, meanwhile, comes in the midst of Kansas’ yet-to-be-completed search for a new head football coach.

Walker, who is set to graduate this winter, had planned to enroll at KU for the spring semester. But with the uncertainty surrounding the head coaching position, doing so would have represented a significant gamble.

Walker’s de-commitment represents the first official defection since Mangino resigned last week.
