Reesing makes guest appearance on TV show

While “Sparky” seems to have served him well over a four-year Kansas University football career, quarterback Todd Reesing won’t be taking the nickname with him when he begins his post-collegiate work as a disc jockey.

Appearing on Thursday’s edition of College Football Live on ESPN, Reesing — who in KU’s 2009 media guide lists his post-college dreams as “learning to DJ” — described his ongoing struggle to select an appropriate moniker.

“Well, it’s in the working (stages),” Reesing said. “We got ‘DJ Trouble.’ Or ‘T-O-Double.’ A lot of guys on the team call me T-O-Double. … But nothing’s final yet. It’s a work in progress.”

During the two-minute segment, Reesing also discussed his lack of hype coming out of high school and identified honing his leadership abilities as his biggest focus this offseason.

Asked about what positions will be key for the Jayhawks this season, Reesing cited the offensive line, which loses its three most experienced starters from last season, and a linebacking corps that features many new faces.

“I think the biggest thing we have to do is get the offensive line to learn to work together,” he said. “Those guys are young and a lot of guys haven’t played before, some first-year guys. If those guys can rapport together and understand their assignments and work as a team, then we’ll have the ability to be great on offense.”
