KU tennis team falls in season opener

? The Kansas University tennis team dropped its season-opening match against Arkansas, 5-2, on Saturday.

KU freshman Magdalena Tokarczyk and junior Edina Horvath won in singles competition.

Tokarczyk improved her singles record to 4-0. She defeated Arkansas’ Maryori Franco, 4-6, 7-6 (5), 1-0 (5) in the No. 2 match.

Horvath defeated Arkansas’ Delia Damaschin, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (5), in the No. 4 match. Horvath picked up her seventh victory of the season.

In doubles competition, Horvath and senior Elizaveta Avdeeva defeated the Arkansas tandem of Maryori Franco and Nanar Airapetian, which was ranked No. 45. Horvath and Avdeeva won, 8-6.

Kansas will play again today when it travels to No. 44 Tulsa at 1 p.m.
