By receiving 10 of a possible 12 first place votes, Kansas University came out on top Thursday when the Big 12 released its preseason men’s basketball poll, voted on by the league head coaches.
KU was followed by Texas in second, and Texas A&M, coached by former Jayhawk Mark Turgeon, in third. The Aggies received the league’s other two first place votes.
This marks the eighth time that KU has topped the league’s preseason poll, and the second year in a row.
Fourth place was secured by Kansas State, and both Missouri and Oklahoma were in a tie for fifth. Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Baylor secured the seven-through-nine slots, while the bottom of the poll was rounded out by a trio of Big 12 North schools – Nebraska, Iowa State and Colorado.
