Atlanta ? One quest was put on hold and another dream was revived Wednesday night when the Heat faced the Atlanta Hawks at Philips Arena.
Just 14 points shy of breaking the franchise’s all-time scoring record, center Alonzo Mourning was sidelined by tendinitis in his right knee, after being kicked during Sunday’s loss to Orlando.
With Mourning out, second-year forward Wayne Simien was activated for the first time since Jan. 10.
Simien had been sidelined since an early-season recurrence of the Salmonella infection that kept him out of the latter stages of last season’s championship run.
“It feels great,” Simien said of making it back to the active roster. “Unfortunately, we’ve got some guys down, which is never good. But it’s been a long time.
“Anytime I have a chance to not be in the (street) suit is nice. It definitely feels good to have the uniform on.”
Simien practiced Tuesday at full speed for the first time in months.
“They say right now it just goes on how I feel,” he said. “I feel good, both on the court and off the court.”
