Eight ex-Jayhawks attending NFL camps

Eight former Kansas University football players are listed on the rosters of National Football League teams as preseason camps open this weekend.

Moran Norris, a fullback with the San Francisco 49ers, is the veteran of the group. Norris will be starting his seventh NFL season.

Justin Hartwig, a center with the Carolina Panthers, is in his sixth season while Adrian Jones, a New York Jets offensive tackle, will begin his fourth pro year.

David McMillan, an outside linebacker with the Cleveland Browns, is a third-year pro and Charles Gordon is in his second season as a cornerback with the Minnesota Vikings.

Listed as first-year pros are Nick Reid, a linebacker with the Kansas City Chiefs; Mark Simmons, a wide receiver with the San Diego Chargers; and Brandon Rideau, a wide receiver with the Chicago Bears.

Two other former Jayhawks are playing in the Canadian Football League – Jon Cornish with the Calgary Stampeders and Ron Warner with the Edmonton Eskimos.
