? Kevin Durant got his points for Texas. Cartier Martin and Kansas State got the win.

And in case anyone hadn’t noticed yet, the Wildcats are now a legitimate threat to win the Big 12 under first-year head coach Bob Huggins.

Martin scored Kansas State’s last five points – hitting a three-pointer for the lead and two key free throws to hold on – to help the Wildcats pull out a 73-72 victory Saturday over the No. 22 Longhorns.

Martin scored 27 points as K-State, one of the league’s worst shooting teams, blistered the Longhorns’ zone defense with 14-of-27 shooting on three-pointers.

Kansas State has won six in a row in the Big 12 after an 0-2 start, and the long-struggling Wildcats are now sitting in a tie for second place halfway through the conference schedule.

“It gives us a chance to fight for first,” Martin said. “That’s what excites me the most. This is a big win for us.”

Durant had 32 points and nine rebounds, but got little help from his teammates. His 13 field goals tied the rest of his team. Guard A.J. Abrams, one of the league’s best three-point shooters, was 2-of-16 from the field.

“It was a tough night,” Abrams said. “Sometimes the ball doesn’t go in.”

Martin and Lance Harris combined for 12 three-pointers for Kansas State.

“They played so much 2-3 zone,” Huggins said. “We were kind of forced to shoot that many.”

Colorado 89, No. 12 Oklahoma State 77

Boulder, Colo. – Dominique Coleman and Kal Bay tied career highs with 21 points each for the Buffaloes in the upset.

Coleman added a career-high 15 rebounds, and Bay tied a career high with five three-pointers. Richard Roby had 20 points for the Buffaloes, who have now beaten at least one ranked team at home in each of the last five years.

Iowa State 71, Baylor 58

Ames, Iowa – Mike Taylor scored 21 points, and Jiri Hubalek scored 19 for the Cyclones.

Freshman Wesley Johnson added 14 points and 10 rebounds for Iowa State, which blew the game open by hitting eight of its first 11 shots in the second half.

Curtis Jerrells led Baylor with 16 points.

The win helped the Cyclones avoid their longest Big 12 losing streak since 2002, when they dropped eight in a row.

Baylor extended its road losing streak to 22 games.

Nebraska 66, Missouri 61

Columbia, Mo. – Aleks Maric scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half for the Cornhuskers.

Marcus Perry led Nebraska with 15 points, but Maric carried the Cornhuskers in the second half after being held to just two points on 1-of-4 shooting in the first half.

Missouri had no answer for the 6-foot-11 center from Australia, who had nine rebounds.

Oklahoma 75, Texas Tech 61

Norman, Okla. – Nate Carter scored 24 points, and Longar Longar had 19 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Sooners.

It was Longar’s fourth

double-double of the season and his first since he was suspended for two games after elbowing Tech’s Esmir Rizvic in the teams’ first meeting in Lubbock last month.

Billy Tubbs, who was 333-132 as the Sooners’ coach from 1981-1994 and guided Oklahoma to the 1988 national title game against Kansas University, was honored during a halftime ceremony.
